Gogebic County is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is named for Lake Agogebic.
The seat is Bessemer while the largest city is Wakefield. The Montreal River forms a border of the county.
The county borders Ontonagon and Iron Counties in Michigan, as well as Vilas, Iron and Ashland Counties in Wisconsin.
Main highways through the county include US-2, US-45, M-28 and M-64.
